Signs It’s Time to Contact a San Francisco, CA Air Conditioning Repair Contractor
If you’re like most San Francisco County homeowners, you rely on your air conditioning system to keep your home cool, and your loved ones safe and comfortable. When the temperatures outside start climbing, all it takes is a push of a button to fill your home with cool air. Air conditioning really is one of the best inventions of all time. Unfortunately, however, like every other system within your San Francisco County house, an air conditioning system can break down.
Constant use, regular wear and tear, and age can damage the components, and your AC can conk out. When that happens, the conditions inside your San Francisco County home can get pretty uncomfortable pretty fast, and depending on the time of the year and the outdoor temperatures, it can even become dangerous. To avoid discomfort and potential danger, when your AC conks out, having it repaired as quickly as possible is an absolute must. An experienced San Francisco, CA air conditioning repair company will perform a thorough assessment of your system and will detect and correct the problem. But how do you know when your AC needs to be fixed? If you’re experiencing any of the following, it’s definitely time to start researching air conditioning repair companies near you.
It’s Blowing Warm Air
An air conditioning system is specifically designed to generate cool air without ever needing to install refrigerants. If it feels like the air coming out of the vents is warm, check the thermostat to make sure it’s set to “cool”, and to ensure that the temperature doesn’t need to be adjusted. If the thermostat isn’t the issue, check the air filter, and if it’s dirty, change it; if the filter is dirty, cool air won’t be able to pass through.
If the thermostat and air filter aren’t the problems, then you’re definitely going to want to start looking for air conditioning repair companies near you. There are several reasons why this issue can occur; the compressor may be broken and the unit may not be able to convert the refrigerant into cool air, or there may be an issue with the ductwork. Whatever the case may be, a licensed and experienced San Francisco, CA air conditioning repair professional will perform a thorough assessment of your entire air conditioning system to determine the source of the issue and will make whatever repairs are needed to get the system back up and running.
The Thermostat Isn’t Working
The thermostat is a vital part of an air conditioning system, as it sends a signal to the unit, powering it on and off. It communicates with the unit so that it can maintain the temperature that the system has been set to. Needless to say, if the thermostat isn’t working, your air conditioner isn’t going to work properly. Sometimes, remedying the problem may be as simple as replacing the batteries. If, however, you’ve changed the batteries and your thermostat still isn’t working, start looking for air conditioning repair companies near you.
A reliable San Francisco, CA air conditioning repair technician will investigate the issue. They’ll take apart the thermostat and will check to see if there are any electrical issues, or if the component itself is defective. Whatever the cause, a reputable professional will be able to correct the problem and restore the San Francisco County home.
Minimal Air is Blowing Out of the Vents
When your AC turns on, does it seem as if the airflow isn’t as strong as it used to be? If so, that’s a telltale sign that you’re going to want to look into scheduling an appointment with a San Francisco, CA air conditioning repair contractor. There are a variety of underlying factors that can affect an air conditioning system’s airflow; there could be a blockage in the ductwork, the condenser coil may be dirty, or the motor could be broken, for example.
In order to keep your San Francisco County home cool, the air has to flow freely out of the vents of the air conditioning system. No matter the cause, when the airflow is poor, you’ll want to start looking for air conditioning companies near you.
When your AC kicks on, do you notice a strange scent wafting out of the vents? If so, you’ll want to call in a San Francisco, CA air conditioning repair contractor. If the scent is musty in nature, that could be a sign that mold is growing in the vents and/or ductwork. If that’s the problem, when the system kicks on, mold spores will spread throughout the air in your San Francisco County house. If you’re noticing a burning or electrical scent, immediately turn off the system and start looking for air conditioning repair companies near you right away. If your air conditioning system continues to run, it could completely malfunction, or it could even catch on fire. Needless to say, if a strange smell catches your attention when the AC kicks on, you’re going to want to start looking for air conditioning repair companies near you.

Mission San Francisco de Asís (Mission Dolores)
The earliest archaeological evidence of human habitation of the territory of the city of San Francisco dates to 3000 BC. The Yelamu group of the Ohlone people resided in a few small villages when an overland Spanish exploration party, led by Don Gaspar de Portolá, arrived on November 2, 1769, the first documented European visit to San Francisco Bay. The first maritime presence occurred on August 5, 1775, when San Carlos—commanded by Juan Manuel de Ayala—became the first ship to anchor in the bay. The following year, on March 28, 1776, the Spanish established the Presidio of San Francisco, followed by a mission, Mission San Francisco de Asís (Mission Dolores), established by the Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza.
Upon independence from Spain in 1821, the area became part of Mexico. Under Mexican rule, the mission system gradually ended, and its lands became privatized. In 1835, William Richardson, a naturalized Mexican citizen of English birth, erected the first independent homestead, near a boat anchorage around what is today Portsmouth Square. Together with Alcalde Francisco de Haro, he laid out a street plan for the expanded settlement, and the town, named Yerba Buena, began to attract American settlers. Commodore John D. Sloat claimed California for the United States on July 7, 1846, during the Mexican–American War, and Captain John B. Montgomery arrived to claim Yerba Buena two days later. Yerba Buena was renamed San Francisco on January 30 of the next year, and Mexico officially ceded the territory to the United States at the end of the war in 1848. Despite its attractive location as a port and naval base, San Francisco was still a small settlement with inhospitable geography.
